Do I need to take off all my parts?

Yes, please do. To manipulate the frame as needed for repairs and to protect parts from over spray, all parts will need to come off of the frame. We have any where from 100-200 frames in the shop at any given time. It is ideal if you can remove all parts to minimize the number of extra parts we have at shipping to match up with frames after repair.

What if I need my frame back faster?

We have a rush service available for frames that are particularly time sensitive. The rush service has the frame ready to ship 2 weeks from the date of the deposit. The rush fee is an additional 50% of the cost of the repair and repaint work.

Do I need to include the fork?

No. We only need the fork if you would like a symmetry test or it is for a repaint.

What else should go with my frame/wheel?

Please include the repair order form in every box sent to Calfee. Even if its not a repair and just a paint touch-up, the form will give us the information we need to get in touch with you. You can download the form here.

What do you repair?

We can perform carbon fiber repairs on carbon bicycle frames and wheels if the repair will not involve the breaking surface. We do not repair forks or handlebars. If you have a special project or repair required, please contact us to see if we can help.

What do you not repair?

Occasionally we may elect to solve problems caused by poor design, either through reinforcement, modification, or simple elbow grease. However, we may also opt to reject such projects. Frequently rejected repair requests are ones that involve aluminum-to-carbon bonding, carbon handlebars, forks, and damage involving the braking surface of carbon wheels.

What is your lead time?

Usually 3 weeks. Please call for an up to date time for repairs and repaint. Extensive paint jobs after repair may require additional time.

What is your warranty on the repaired area?

Calfee Design warrants to the original registered customer that its repairs are free of manufacturer’s defects for a period of 10 years from the original date of service.

What do you repaint?

We typically only repaint the area impacted from the carbon repair. We only do a full repaint if it is requested.

Can you repaint my entire frame?

Absolutely! The best way to get started on a full repaint is to send us some photos of what sort of paint scheme you have in mind. If you are interested in a custom paint design, we have some designers we can work with to make it become a reality.

Will my frame weigh more?

Your frame may gain a small amount of weight, however it is typically minimal, around 100 grams or less.

Will my frame ride different?

Your frame should ride as it did before. In instances of major damage that required reinforcement, the frame may be a bit stiffer and stronger in that section after repair. We take the time to be sure that we read the orientation of the fibers so we can replicate that in the layup of new layers. The fiber direction and tube shape are dominating factors in the way a frame rides, so in many cases the ride quality will remain very similar.

What brands have you fixed?

Abici, Orbea, BMC, Cervelo, Hed, Zipp, Trek, Scott, Specialized, Look, Ridley, Kuota, Pinarello, Giant, Colnago, Bianchi, Gary Fisher, Wilier, Fuji, Corima, Blue, Reynolds, De Rosa, Eddy, Merckx, Lemond, Litespeed, Time, Javelin, Cinelli, Vellum, Koga, Miyata, Marin, Ibis, Isaac, Guru, Raleigh, Klein, Campagnolo, Cannondale, Felt, Jamis, FSA, Kestrel and more.
